You know those earbuds that come with your phone? Have you tried going to the gym or running with them? If you have, you will understand how cumbersome it is to have wires dangling and swishing around as you jog. In fact, if you run hard enough, it would probably hit you in the face. This is the reason why I jumped at the chance to take the Philips ActionFit Bluetooth sports headphones for a spin to experience wireless music.
Touch and Go
Hate setting up Bluetooth devices? Then you would love the ActionFit. Just switch on the NFC function on your phone, tap the volume controller of the headphones to its back, and voila! Paired! No more fiddly scanning for devices and such, so even if you are not tech-savvy, you can just follow the instructions in the manual easily. If you don’t have NFC, you still can pair it manually via Bluetooth, no worries there.
Decently functional
When it comes to quality of sound on this headphones, it all depends on how much of an audiophile you are. Philips has always been known for pretty decent headphones, and this is no exception. Music clarity is decent and clear, but don’t expect to be catching every single instrument on a classical piece.
Hands Free
Most of us tend to use our phones as music players. So what do you do when a call comes in? Well, if you’re on the usual wired earphones, you would probably be holding the mic piece to your mouth as you run. With the ActionFit, you don’t have to do that since there is a mic incorporated into the volume control, making it easy to pick up and put down calls. However, the sound quality of calls using the mic is functional at most, not crystal clear, but still decently usable.
Not quite enough
This sports headphones offers three different sized earbuds. The problem is, my ears are too small, so although there is a little rubbery hook to slot into your cartilage for a better fit, the buds itself doesn’t bury itself in my ear enough to feel secure.
Water ain’t a problem
According to Philips, this headphones are sweat and water resistant. I didn’t really try that out (don’t want to trash it), but being made of good quality rubbery material, I wouldn’t be surprised. The material doesn’t feel sticky enough to get stuck to your neck, although I had some issues with it getting stuck to my hair if I didn’t tie it up.
Versatility Rocks
Overall, with the ease of use and lack of jingly wires, and the fact that it never gets disconnected from the phone, makes this sports headphones a good buy should you want to enjoy your music fuss-free while on-the-go.
