Review: CMStorm Ceres-500

Headphones seem to be all the rage now. From audiophile sets to those that are featured in gaming tournaments, there seems to be a type for every possible situation. Well accept for going underwater of course. Be as it may, CMStorm didn’t want to be left out and so put out a new inclusion into its Ceres gaming headset series – the CMStorm Ceres-500. Sophisticated is what CMStorm is going for with this new model but do read on to find out how it fares!

Built Light
For a gaming headset, you’d think the Ceres-500 would be heavy since it’d pack a proper sound system with enough noise filters for an equally adequate performing microphone unit. Not so with this one as it feels as if I am wearing a pair of simple headphones when I put this headset on. The folding mechanism is also pretty light as the arms holding the cans swings out easily enough. I like how the entire unit can sit on my head for hours with no niggling neck ache showing.

Power Sound
One must always expect a gaming headset to deliver the goods. The Ceres-500 did just that and thus do not fall into the category of has-beens or could-haves. Mid-range is great and sharp pings like bullet ricochet in movies and games came out with a nice report. With more room to play in the mid- and upper-range, the new Ceres has some extra level of clarity not found among its peers. It helps that the ear-cans are tuned specifically for TV, PC, and game consoles and can be specifically adjusted to each device with a toggle flip.
