MYTV Commences Free Decoder Distribution For B40 Group

MYTV Broadcasting has resumed the distribution of the decoder sets giving priority to the lower income household registered under the Bantuan Sara Hidup Rakyat or B40 segment. The free decoder sets will be posted nationwide in phases until the analogue switch off in March 2019, which would then broadcast over terrestrial will cease to exist for RTM channels.

All delivery will be based on the address available with no changes allowed, MYTV has also extended the 7 day deadline till 31st January giving more time for eligible recipients to response. For those who do not fall under the free recipient category can purchase the DTT box for RM187 at the designated authorised dealers across the country. The company was given the contract to digitalise broadcasting from analogue and currently has 9 TV channels on its platform. MYTV is supposedly to have signal coverage to 98% of the population by end of 2018.

The company was recently embroiled in a spat with Telekom Malaysia over unpaid bills and reports of service disruption but the issues have been rectified for now and service has resumed in most parts. MYTV is fighting against time to get the DTT box to the households before the deadline when the analogue broadcast at RTM is switched to digital. With the new batch having arrived, its now POS Malaysia that will need to double duty and we know how the national delivery agency has been rated of late.
